Mangrove Excursions

Mangily Scuba offers a half-day excursion to visit the mangroves of Ambondrolava, halfway between Tulear and Ifaty/Mangily. Since 2008, the NGO Honko has been managing a restoration and conservation project of the mangroves as well as providing sustainable income and environmental education to the local population. Come and learn about the ecology of the mangroves and local bird life in the region with a tour by a locally trained guide on the recently constructed boardwalk snaking its way through the mangroves. Honko also offers a cultural tour of the village in which one may learn about the planting and processing of ‘vondro’ or a straw-like material used primarily in the building of the local houses. Visit and support a small, sustainable community project in the southwest of Madagascar!
